  1. This was a fun race despite the rain, cold and impending thunderstorms!   They also chose a long race (dock start to C/3, upwind to Ft Adams,  downwind to 13 (RG just N of bridge), back upwind to Ft Adams, then DDW to finish.

The first leg was a reach to C and Relentless with their big genoa beat us by one boat length but we had a better rounding and immediately got 5 boat lengths in the lead.  We made a tactical error by tacking in and letting them continue towards the dumplings.  We were close at the first Ft Adams rounding but on the long downwind to 13 we really extended our lead.

The wind on the final upwind leg was that “punchy gusts” really strong gust (24 app.) for 3-5 seconds then it lets up.   A single port tack until we close to the lay line for Ft Adams light.  And again, Relentless went much farther and make up some time.  Final leg was DDW and we were able to extend our leader to be the line winner and even with correction we beat Relentless.

As usual,  we were Afarat-ed once again – we beat them by 17:54 and they corrected over us by 2:56.
